Realme 12 Pro 5G Review: Is It still worth in 2024

It’s been a month since I started using the Realme 12 Pro 5G, and today I am going to share a full and final review of this phone. I will cover what I liked and disliked about this phone and whether you should consider buying it or not. Let’s dive into the details.

Realme 12 Pro 5G: Design and Build Quality

Realme 5G Pro Design

The design of the Realme 12 Pro 5G is quite impressive. It has a large camera module that gives it a premium feel. The phone is made with vegan leather, which has not developed any scratches so far, but it does tend to attract dust, especially if touched with dirty hands. The build quality is excellent, and the in-hand feel is also quite good. The phone is easy to use with one hand, and the fingerprint scanner is fast and reliable.

Realme 12 Pro 5G: Display

The Phone features a Full HD+ 120Hz AMOLED curved display, which is stunning. The curved display offers an enhanced multimedia experience, making watching movies and videos a delight with its vibrant colors. Outdoor visibility is decent, but under very bright sunlight, such as in the hot Bihar sun, the display can be a bit difficult to see. However, the refresh rate optimization is not perfect. Even though it supports 120Hz, it seems to work only on the home screen and drops to 90Hz when using apps like YouTube.

Realme 12 Pro 5G: Battery Life and Charging

The battery backup is quite impressive. For normal users, it can easily last for more than a day, and even heavy users can get a full day of usage. The charging speed is also good, going from 0 to 100% in about 40-45 minutes. This means even if the battery drains quickly, it can be charged up swiftly.

Realme 12 Pro 5G: Software and UI

The phone’s OS has room for improvement. It comes with some pre-installed applications and frequent recommendations that can be annoying for those unfamiliar with how to remove them. The UI is stable, with no significant bugs, and the company promises OS updates for two years, which is a plus.

Realme 12 Pro 5G: Camera Performance

The camera quality is decent for photos, providing good color accuracy and detail. However, in harsh lighting conditions, photos can sometimes turn out dark. The wide-angle lens performs well, but the detailing isn’t as sharp as expected. The selfie camera also takes good pictures with accurate colors and detailing, although the phone’s video capabilities could use some improvement. It can record in 4K at 30fps, but stabilization is lacking at this resolution. Additionally, the wide-angle lens only supports Full HD at 30fps, with no 60fps support, which might be a limitation for some users.

Realme 12 Pro 5G: Performance

This Phone is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, scoring around 600,000 on benchmark tests. It performs well for casual gaming and everyday tasks. However, it does show some lag when switching between camera modes and during heavy gaming sessions, with noticeable frame drops and heating issues, especially in outdoor environments.

What I Didn’t Like

While the display is good, it is prone to scratches over time, so a good quality tempered glass is recommended. The brightness could have been higher compared to other smartphones. The heating issue is also a concern, as the phone tends to get warm during gaming and in outdoor use. The camera, while good for photos, lacks in video recording capabilities, especially for those looking for higher resolution and frame rate options.

Conclusion

Overall, the phone offers some great features, but I wouldn’t recommend it at its price point of ₹25,000, as there are other phones that offer better value for money in this range. However, if you have different priorities, you might find it to be a suitable choice.

Feel free to share your thoughts on the Realme 12 Pro 5G in the comments.
